PET CONNECTION: HAS YOUR PET BEEN EFFECTED?

IF YOU HAVE RECALLED PET FOOD a Pet Connection PDF sites advice from Dr. Marty Becker :

³Has your pet eaten any of it? If so, call your veterinarian right away even if your pet seems fine,² says Dr. Becker. ³Sometimes a pet will look just fine on the outside, but whatıs happening on the inside may be an entirely different story. Discuss with your vet whether your pet should have a diagnostic test of kidney function to catch any problem before itıs life-threatening.² ³Todayıs tests no longer have to have a pet in renal failure before a problem can be caught. Making sure thereıs no problem is an investment in your petıs health and in your peace of mind,² he says. If you have a recalled product in your home and your pet hasnıt had any, return it to the place of purchase. Most have indicated they will refund consumerıs money. Contact the store or the company for assistance.

DO NOT JUST THROW THIS STUFF IN THE TRASH. Especially if packaging is open or can be opened by an animal. Strays and other animals sometimes go through trash. Renal Failure is a bad death. Strays and other animals do not deserve that death or need to get poisoned either.

A NEW YEAR AN OLD HATE [01.28.07]

It is a new year and dogs are still hating Bush. [Dogs have longer memories than you know.] We had some computer mix ups around here and we do not think we lost any dogs but we did lose some email. This means, if you sent your dog in and have not gotten email from us? Your dog is probably up. We probably just lost your email address and could not tell you about it.

Sorry about that. If you think you should have a dog up, check the end pages like page 60 or 61. And if your dog is not up? Then we lost more than we thought send that dog in.

OUR NEW FAVORITE SITE [09.13.06]

We were tooling around the stats page and saw this site sending us visitors so we checked it out and this guy totally cracks us up. Also, he is pretty observant. Here is a quick except:

"SUCKER DEMOCRATS: I hate to give it to you like this, Democrats, but you are suckers. All the polls are saying it will be a Democratic landslide in the midterm elections. ORLY? I wonder why Bush is planning to destroy Social Security again after the midterms. I wonder why he doesn't believe the polls. Could it be because he knows that the elections are rigged... AGAIN... AND THE DEMOCRATS STILL CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY THEY ARE LOSING... EVEN THOUGH 20% OF AMERICANS BELIEVE THE ELECTION WAS STOLEN LAST TIME, EVEN WITHOUT THE MSM UTTERING A WORD ABOUT THE TRICK VOTING MACHINES? DON'T DEMOCRATS KNOW YOU CAN'T WIN A SHELL GAME?"

We cannot argue with that. Go see what else he has to say and his predictions at http://unrealitycheck.com.

THE STORE IS FIXED [09.10.06]

Well we had some trouble with the Cafe Press links for a while and no one at Cafe Press seemed to know what to tell us about that so finally we threw in the towel and joined the evil empire. Now you can go into the store and hit any link that says "buy" and it will work and take you straight to a cute Cafe Press shopping page.

Cool, huh? We thought so. Go buy a T-Shirt.

DICKED AROUND AGAIN [01.21.06]

Okay. The "Justice Foundation" just disappeared as a real internet entity, off the net andgone and there is not boycott Fox effort happening there and the site itself is up for grabs for big bucks with some interesting links all about buy American but nowhwere does anything say anything about boycotting Fox or why the site was allegedly up or what it was about.

Jeez. Hosed.

Which makes a certain amount of sense, I mean, how seriously can you take someone named Nancy Finger? The person who kept writing us. Though we do try to give people the benefit of the doubt and not dump them for their names.

This is the first time we have been hosed this bad in public though.

So. The Justice Foundation sucks. We hate them. And retract anything we said in support of them.

Also, would people please stop writing us to ask if we want to participate in some sort of boycott Fox site?

We have a boycott Fox site. We have had one for years. Volunteer, or get the fuck out. Cripes.

PET RESCUE FACILITY NEEDED | LOS FELIZ, CA [12.04.05]

Santé D'Or, a pet rescue facility in Los Feliz, California, has to find new facilities. They have been using a back room at For Pets Only at Franklin and Hillhurst, but For Pets Only wants to convert that room to a grooming facility and has given Sante D'Or walking papers and the rescue animals need a new facility by January 1.

Santé D' Or does not need a lot of room. Right now they get by in one not too large room with many of the animals farmed out to foster care. But not all of the animals can go to foster care they do need a space both to house some of the cats and for their adoption weekends.

If anyone knows of any pet supply houses/stores or veterinary practices or just general locations zoned for animals that could house a small pet rescue facility, please contact Kelly at info.santedor@gmail.com

More info about Santé D'Or is available at http://santedor.com

TRANSPORT PROVIDED TO ANYWHERE | OFF SCIFI NET [09.05.05]

Transportion Provided to Anywhere: Room Desperately Needed! (For the Animal Victims of Katrina)

There is transportation provided, with people ready and waiting, for upwards of 200 dogs and 150 cats so far rescued from the devastation of hurricane Katrina. What these animals need is a place to go. Kennels, boarding, vets offices, shelters with any extra space, foster homes and rescues. Even one or two open kennels would greatly help.

From what we know, all animals have been vaccinated and are in good health considering the conditions. There are dogs and cats of every breed and size. Some are in groups of two, three or four, hailing from the same family, while some are solitary. ANY KENNEL SPACE AVAILABLE CAN CERTAINLY BE USED. These drivers are willing to move these animals ANYWHERE they need to go. Absolutely anywhere.

The current safe houses for these animals are being inundated and some of these pets will have to be euthanized if they are not moved to make room for the incoming animals. Please feel free to pass on this information everywhere. Every forum, every list, every community.

REMEMBER THESE ANIMALS WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO YOU.

SICK KITTY TIPS [08.14.05]

As far as sick kitty events go? This laundry hamper is the buy of the century.

Resident Cat Jones threw up in his Sherpa Bag. This is a no fun scenario his Sherpa Bag is where he feels safe when he is sick but he could not go back in there and in the middle of comforting him and washing kitty vomit out of a Sherpa Bag and wondering what to do --

I just bought these pop up laundry hampers from Bed Bath & Beyond. They have a nice big opening in the top and mesh sides and hold their shape and are the right size for a not-feeling-well kitty. I popped this open and put it on its side and put a towel in there and put Resident Cat Jones in there and he has been calm and snoozy in there ever since. Yay!:

They also come in pretty colors. Yay!:

LETTER FROM ROBERT REDFORD [01.11.05]

Dear NRDC BioGems Defender,

No one voted on Election Day to destroy the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. But President Bush is now claiming a mandate to do exactly that.

Congressional leaders are pushing for a quick vote that would turn America's greatest sanctuary for Arctic wildlife into a vast, polluted oil field.

Even worse, they are planning to avoid public debate on this devastating measure by hiding it in a must-pass budget bill.

Please go to ::: arctic take action ::: right now and send a message telling your U.S. senators and representative to reject this sneak attack on the Arctic Refuge.

And please forward my message to your friends, family and colleagues. We must mobilize millions of Americans in opposition as quickly as possible.

Don't believe for a second that the president is targeting the Arctic Refuge for the sake of America's energy security or to lower gas prices at the pump.

President Bush knows full well that oil drilled in the Arctic Refuge would take ten years to get to market and would never equal more than a paltry one or two percent of our nation's daily consumption. Simply put, sacrificing the crown jewel of our wildlife heritage would do nothing to reduce gas prices or break our addiction to Persian Gulf oil.

But if the raid on the Arctic Refuge isn't really about gas prices or energy security, then what is it about?

It's the symbolism.

The Arctic Refuge represents everything spectacular and everything endangered about America's natural heritage. It embodies a million years of ecological serenity . . . a vast stretch of pristine wilderness . . . an irreplaceable birthing ground for polar bears, caribou and white wolves.

It is the greatest living reminder that conserving nature in its wild state is a core American value. It stands for every remnant of wilderness that we, as a people, have wisely chosen to protect from the relentless march of bulldozers, chain saws and oil rigs.

And that's why the Bush administration is dead set on destroying it.

By unlocking the Arctic Refuge, they hope to open the door for oil, gas and coal giants to invade our last and best wild places: our western canyonlands, our ancient forests, our coastal waters, even our national monuments.

This is the real agenda behind the raid on the Arctic Refuge and the entire Bush-Cheney energy plan: to transfer our public estate into corporate hands so it can be liquidated for a quick buck.

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) admitted as much when he said this battle over the Arctic Refuge is really a fight over whether energy exploration will be allowed in similarly sensitive areas in the future. "It's about precedent," Rep. DeLay said.

I take him at his word. If we let the president and Congress plunder the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for the sake of oil company profits, then no piece of our natural heritage will be safe from wholesale destruction.

Please go to ::: arctic take action ::: and tell your senators and representative they have no mandate to destroy the Arctic Refuge. Then please be sure to forward this message to as many people as you can. And thank you for speaking out at this critical time.

Sincerely,

Robert Redford

BOXER & REID FIGHT VOTE FRAUD [01.07.05]

Yesterday in Congress Sen. Barbara Boxer [D-CA] joined Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones [D-OH] objecting to certifying rgw Ohio Electoral College vote from the November 2, 2004 presidential election.

Senator Boxer's Statement On Her Objection To The Certification Of Ohio's Electoral Votes January 6, 2005:

For most of us in the Senate and the House, we have spent our lives fighting for things we believe in -- always fighting to make our nation better.

We have fought for social justice. We have fought for economic justice. We have fought for environmental justice. We have fought for criminal justice.

Now we must add a new fight -- the fight for electoral justice.

Every citizen of this country who is registered to vote should be guaranteed that their vote matters, that their vote is counted, and that in the voting booth of their community, their vote has as much weight as the vote of any Senator, any Congressperson, any President, any cabinet member, or any CEO of any Fortune 500 Corporation.

I am sure that every one of my colleagues -- Democrat, Republican, and Independent -- agrees with that statement. That in the voting booth, every one is equal.

So now it seems to me that under the Constitution of the United States, which guarantees the right to vote, we must ask:

Why did voters in Ohio wait hours in the rain to vote? Why were voters at Kenyan College, for example, made to wait in line until nearly 4 a.m. to vote because there were only two machines for 1300 voters?

Why did poor and predominantly African-American communities have disproportionately long waits?

Why in Franklin County did election officials only use 2,798 machines when they said they needed 5,000? Why did they hold back 68 machines in warehouses? Why were 42 of those machines in predominantly African-American districts?

Why did, in Columbus area alone, an estimated 5,000 to 10,000 voters leave polling places, out of frustration, without having voted? How many more never bothered to vote after they heard about this?

Why is it when 638 people voted at a precinct in Franklin County, a voting machine awarded 4,258 extra votes to George Bush. Thankfully, they fixed it -- but how many other votes did the computers get wrong?

Why did Franklin County officials reduce the number of electronic voting machines in downtown precincts, while adding them in the suburbs? This also led to long lines.

In Cleveland, why were there thousands of provisional ballots disqualified after poll workers gave faulty instructions to voters?

Because of this, and voting irregularities in so many other places, I am joining with Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones to cast the light of truth on a flawed system which must be fixed now.

Our democracy is the centerpiece of who we are as a nation. And it is the fondest hope of all Americans that we can help bring democracy to every corner of the world.

As we try to do that, and as we are shedding the blood of our military to this end, we must realize that we lose so much credibility when our own electoral system needs so much improvement.

Yet, in the past four years, this Congress has not done everything it should to give confidence to all of our people their votes matter.

After passing the Help America Vote Act, nothing more was done.

A year ago, Senators Graham, Clinton and I introduced legislation that would have required that electronic voting systems provide a paper record to verify a vote. That paper trail would be stored in a secure ballot box and invaluable in case of a recount.

There is no reason why the Senate should not have taken up and passed that bill. At the very least, a hearing should have been held. But it never happened.

Before I close, I want to thank my colleague from the House, Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones.

Her letter to me asking for my intervention was substantive and compelling.

As I wrote to her, I was particularly moved by her point that it is virtually impossible to get official House consideration of the whole issue of election reform, including these irregularities.

The Congresswoman has tremendous respect in her state of Ohio, which is at the center of this fight.

Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones was a judge for 10 years. She was a prosecutor for 8 years. She was inducted into the Women's Hall of Fame in 2002.

I am proud to stand with her in filing this objection.

STOP FOX [11.04.04]

We look at the voters we know voted for Bush. Some of them are yellow dog Republicans, who would never cross a party line for any reason. Some of them are so homophobic they will vote for any cadidate who does a bit of gay bashing. But then there is that astonishing group that apparently believes Bush was correct -- and even honest -- in his assessment of the Iraq threat.

According to a report entitled "Misperceptions, the Media and the Iraq War" [BBC Radio News]:

48% of this group incorrectly believe that evidence of links between Iraq and al Qaeda have been found.

22% believe weapons of mass destruction have been found in Iraq.

25% believe world public opinion favored the US going to war with Iraq.

Overall 60% had at least one of these three misperceptions.

The frequency of Americans' misperceptions varies significantly depending on their news source.

Americans who primarily watch Fox News are significantly more likely to have one or all of the misperceptions above.

Americans who primarily listen to NPR or watch PBS are significantly less likely to.

Among Americans with none of the misperceptions above, only 23% support the war. Among Americans with one of these misperceptions, 53% support the war, rising to 78% for Americans who have two of these misperceptions, and 86% for Americans with all three.

Fox News is actively disseminating propaganda from the White House and facilitating a White House agenda that undercuts American credibility, fosters deceit, and holds this country and its people up to ridicule in the eyes of the world. Worse, these actions make us an ever more desirable target for terrorist attack.

The only way to stop the dissemination of inaccurate and dangerously false information is to bring down the propaganda branch of the White House.

That means -- stop Fox News.

Stop watching Fox News Television.

Stop buying Fox News's sponsors' products.

The disappearance of 252 electoral votes worth of viewers will be noticed.

[FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | 08.25.04]

New York : Dogs Against Bush
RALLY In Central Park

New York -- A group of dogs and their owners will gather in Central Park for a walk and rally protesting Bush/Cheney on Thursday, September 2nd, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. The rally will take place at Norman's Landscape, just inside the 85th and Central Park West entrance to Central Park.

All dogs and their owners are welcome to join the rally scheduled for prime dog walking hours the day GOP George W. Bush will likely receive his party's nomination for re-election.

Media representatives and their dogs are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Christopher Wiss, rally organizer and owner of popular Upper West Side dog Olive, notes, "New York's fight for Homeland Security and other federal funds has been dog eat dog at the Federal level, despite widespread agreement that NYC remains Target A for terrorist attacks in the USA. This president has certainly not been any New Yorker's best friend in his policies or support for keeping NYC safe and secure.²

The rally will include a circular dog walk with dogs sporting protest T-shirts including slogans such as: "Dogs Against Bush." Protestors will be handing out doggy bags containing: A list of the Top Ten Things Dogs Would Rather Do Than Vote For Bush; a dog treat; an anti-Bush sticker; and information on how to get involved.

There will be plenty of water for all protesting dogs and their owners at the rally.
